Visitors In!

Bikeability

We have had our first session with David and Jill from Go Velo for our bikeability course. We went through safety, checking our bike frames, mounting and dismounting as well as perfecting our riding skills.

Life Education Van

Today we had a visit from Harold in the Life Education Van! We talked about keeping our bodies healthy and spent time exploring how to maintain healthy friendships. We were assertive rather than passive or aggressive and looked at peer pressure, learning how to cope with friendship issues.

Art workshop on Climate Change

Today we had a visit from Miss Taylor, who ran a really fantastic art workshop centred around climate change. We sketched posters inspired by Greta Thunberg and then mixed paint to create shades of grey and green. They were amazing! See below to see our final products!

Visit from Rossendale Hospice

Joanna came to talk to us about the role of Rossendale Hospice. She talked about bereavement and end-of-life care as well as their role in raising money for their wonderful service. This was to support our RE work on caring for the sick and elderly. Our session was sensitively done and we have had the chance to ask questions to Joanna.

Yoga and mindfulness

Year Six loved it when Miss Becky joined us for a yoga and mindfulness session, teaching us breathing techniques, balance and stretch poses to help centre, calm or invigorate us when we need it.

Motivational speaker Neil Dans joins us...

Neil told us the story of how he overcame setbacks in his life to go on to achieve British Skateboarding Champion and an amazing opportunity to dance at Eurovision! Neil was very inspiring! He ran a workshop encouraging us to work together to help us achieve a goal.  These games were loads of fun and taught us a lot about working together! Thank you Neil!

World Champion Thai Boxer inspires us...

Rachel told us the story of how she became not only the British Thai Boxing champion but the World Champion Thai Boxer. She was so inspirational and encouraged us never to give up!
