Wider Opportunities

God wants me to be the best me I can be at everything

At St Joseph's RC Primary we are always looking for opportunities to widen children's experiences. We arrange as many trips, clubs and visits as we can. We offer opportunities in and out of school.

Head Boy and Head Girls

We are very proud of our Head Boy and Head Girls. They had to complete a written application and then they had an interview where they had to tell us why they would be good in the role. They lead assembly, carry out jobs around the school and are good role models for everyone else.

Prefects

Our prefects take responsibility for various jobs around school. They had to apply for this important role. They help with the younger children around school and sit with them in assembly. They ensure children move safely around the building and help teachers whenever it is needed. They are always available to help if anyone needs help.

Nature Friendly Schools

This year we were successful applying for money and support from Nature Friendly Schools. They have provided us with a beautiful quiet space, bird houses, animal fact cards, wellies and coats. They have also provided us with training for staff and children on how to develop our outdoors. Y6 also went on a free residential in Yorkshire to develop their outdoor skills. Photos are on the Y6 class page.

Burnley Football Club - they led an assembly all about Black History Month.

Bikeability - Y5 have had lessons on how to ride their bikes

Visits

Y6 went to Yorkshire as part of our nature Friendly Schools project. They stayed overnight and developed their outdoor learning. (pictures on class page)

Y6 went on a walk to Rawtenstall using their geographical skills. They had to navigate their way and the reward was pizza! (pictures on class page)

The whole school will be going to see a pantomime. "Oh no you're not, oh yes we are!"
