Dear Parents & Carers,
The online world is posing an ever-increasing risk to children, and it is important that schools, parents and carers work together to take an active role in teaching children about online dangers. Learning how to act safely when using the internet is an incredibly important part of safeguarding our children.
We are therefore delighted to announce that St Joseph's RC Primary School have shown our commitment to protecting our pupils online by working with National Online Safety- providing resources for all parents and carers.
The resources include Parents & Carers courses (presented by Myleene Klass), online video resources and weekly guides covering a huge range of topics, including:

If you do not have fixed broadband at home and cannot afford additional data for your devices, we may be able to apply on your behalf to temporarily increase your data allowance while your child cannot attend school.
The scheme is currently available on the following networks: Three, Smarty, Virgin Mobile, EE, Tesco Mobile and Sky Mobile. Other providers may join the scheme in the future.
In order to apply on your behalf, we will need to know:
You cannot apply directly, all applications must be made through school.
We also have a small supply of Vodafone data only SIMs which can provide 30GB to use for 90 days. These can be used on a smart laptop/dongle or a smartphone. If your phone is locked to another network, you would need to contact your provider to request for your phone to be unlocked. You would also not be able to use your phone to make calls/texts while using the data SIM.
If you would like to take up either of these options, please email bursar@st-josephs-bacup.lancs.sch.uk. If you are interested in us applying to increase your data allowance, you must provide the information set out above. If you are interested in a Vodafone data only SIM, this would need to be collected from school.

If your child is eligible for free school meals, you are entitled to receive a voucher from the Covid Winter Grant Scheme, which is being distributed by Lancashire County Council.
This is a one-off payment for the Christmas holiday period to the value of £30 per eligible child. E-vouchers have been ordered through Edenred and will be delivered to the email address we hold on file for you from Saturday 19th December 2020.
The email you receive will come from Edenred and will contain an e-code which you will need to convert to an e-voucher for the supermarket of your choice. Please note school will be closed so unfortunately we will not be able to answer any questions about this, but here is the link to the Edenred parent user guide https://www.edenred.co.uk/reward-recipients/Free-School-Meal-Vouchers/.
Please note this scheme only applies if your child is eligible for benefits related free school meals. It is not for children who receive a Universal Infant Free School Meal.
