At St Joseph's we follow the Read Write Inc programme. We find it very useful to give our children the early interventions and skills to become life long readers. Every member of staff who delivers the programme took part in the 2 day training. This was essential to make sure the children receive the best teaching at all times. The programme starts in Nursery when the children experience a range of environmental sounds, sing songs, read stories and become aware of the sounds in the world around them. As the children progress through the programme in Reception and then into Year One they enjoy reading the more challenging Dittie Books . Each book is matched to their current stage in their learning. Children are assessed regularly to make sure they make progress.

This video is a guide to support parents to help their children to recognise and say the sounds correctly.
